Victoria Road Area Residents’ Association
We live in a beautiful part of London. Over 40 years ago, in 1982, a group of local residents founded VRARA to represent those living here: to cherish where we live.
We now represent around 300 households. Some residents have lived here for generations, whilst others have recently arrived.

Beginnings
It all started with residents wanting to build on the neighbourhood spirit of celebrations such as the Silver Jubilee street party for Queen Elizabeth II. The year was 1982 and the prompt, perhaps unsurprisingly, was a planning application (to build extra storeys on hotels fronting Victoria Road and De Vere Gardens, for those who are interested). Victoria Road Residents’ Association (VRARA) has been going from strength to strength ever since.
VRARA is situated in Queen’s Gate Ward, one of 18 wards making up the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It is also in one of the Borough’s 38 conservation areas - the De Vere Conservation Area – which means that any proposals for change become subject to local and national conservation policies.
